The entrepreneurs behind San Diego-based pet and animal supply chain Kahoots Feed and Pet Store came to Orange Label with a question: Now that the brand was playing in the big leagues with competitors like Petco and PetSmart, how would they take their company to the next level and increase sales?


After completing the Orange Label Approach, in addition to conducting market research and a full analysis of the 21-store business operation, the team uncovered core values that carved out a unique place for Kahoots in the retail market. Focusing on concepts that embodied values like “Knowledge” and “Honesty,” Orange Label recommended communicating this brand-driven messaging on a direct response multichannel marketing platform, including social media, radio advertising, email marketing and print advertising.


36% increase in overall sales

Orange Label helped Kahoots speak to an audience of pet lovers, connecting customers with premium pet supplies and services. As a result of the multi-channel marketing strategy, Kahoots was able to compete with larger, national chains and in three years their family-focused business saw a 36% increase in overall retail and online sales. The direct response campaign allowed Kahoots to see a 20% increase in purchases with a 13% revenue increase per transaction, achieving their goal of growing sales while making a positive impact on the people and animals they serve.
